Kings of the World – Psalms 1-2

I’ve heard believers say, “God already knows what’s going to happen in this election; why should I pray about it?” or “God isn’t concerned with the leadership of our country.” How wrong they are!!! God wants us to pray about everything, and He is very concerned with the politics and leadership of every nation of the world.

Psalm 2 talks about God’s ultimate King, His Son, who is coming to reign for 1000 years on the earth. It gives several warnings and several promises. It states that, first of all, plotting against God is in vain. Some people in America are trying to kick God out. I honestly think that America is on the fast track to losing God’s grace, but all of the atheists plotting is in vain, because I’ve read the end of the Book and God wins. “Every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue WILL confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” The warnings are: verse 9, “You will dash them to pieces like pottery,” and verse 12, “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for His wrath can flare up in a moment.” Watch out kings who are not willing to bow your knees voluntarily in honor and tribute to the King of kings and Lord of lords, because He is coming and you WILL bow, or be shattered like pottery.

Second are the promises. Christ will reign! Verse 6 says, “I have installed My King on Zion, My holy hill.” Verse 8: “Ask of Me and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession.” These are promises to Christ, but I can’t wait for the day when He reigns in peace on the earth. And the last line gives me great comfort, “Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.” I’d rather willingly bow my knee to the Prince of Peace than pay tribute to any earthly king.
